In a world where everyone is sitting in front of the computer or smart phone for the majority of the day, its easy to find yourself hunched over a keyboard. Poor posture can lead to back pain, circulation issues and fatigue.
To get on the straight and narrow while seated at home or work desk, sit so your knees are parallel with your hips and raise your computer screen to your eye line with a straight back. Making sure you have a chair with a supportive back rest will also help to prevent you slouching forward. While you are hunched over tension builds between your back muscles and causes discomfort. Taking time to get up and walk around will relieve some of that tension.
How Tack Tape can improve your lower back pain
You can help ease low back pain with tape by following these steps:
- To begin, cut two I-strips.
- Place the person in a standing position.
- Apply the anchor of the first I-strip on the left side of the low back over the lumbar extensor muscles. Remove the backing to the end of the piece of tape, and instruct the patient to forward flex.
- Apply the tape with 25-50% tension.
- Repeat the same process with the second piece of kinesiology tape on the right side of the back.
- Rub the kinesiology tape down onto the skin to ensure optimum adhesion
